If you’ve ever spent hours tailoring a resume for a single job application, you know the grind. ReviseCV is designed to save you that time while making sure your resume actually gets past Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).

This guide walks you through everything you need to get started.

What ReviseCV Does

ReviseCV is an AI-powered resume optimization tool. Here’s what makes it different:

  • Tailors your resume to specific jobs in under 2 minutes
  • Matches keywords from job descriptions so ATS systems can find you
  • Never fabricates experience, only reorganizes and rephrases what you already have
  • Generates cover letters that complement your tailored resume

The goal is simple: help you apply faster and get more callbacks.

Your First Optimization

Here’s how to tailor your first resume:

Step 1: Upload Your Resume

Go to Tools and select Tailor Resume. You can:

  • Paste your resume text directly
  • Upload a PDF or Word document
  • Select a resume you’ve already saved

Don’t worry about formatting at this stage. ReviseCV will parse your content and handle the layout.

Step 2: Add the Job Description

Paste the job posting you’re applying to. Include everything: the job title, responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications.

The more complete the job description, the better ReviseCV can match your experience to what the employer wants.

Step 3: Generate Your Tailored Resume

Click Tailor Resume and let the AI work. In about 2 minutes, you’ll have a new version of your resume that:

  • Highlights your most relevant experience for this specific role
  • Uses keywords from the job posting
  • Is formatted for ATS compatibility
  • Maintains your authentic experience (nothing fabricated)

Step 4: Review and Download

Review the changes. You can edit any section if you want to adjust the wording. When you’re happy with it, download as PDF or Word and submit your application.

Understanding the Tools

ReviseCV has several tools. Here’s when to use each:

ToolWhen to Use It
Tailor ResumeApplying to a specific job. Best for maximum match with the job posting.
Improve ResumeWant a general polish without a specific target job.
Analyze ResumeCurious how well your current resume matches a job before tailoring.
Cover LetterNeed a cover letter that complements your tailored resume.

New to all this? Start with Analyze Resume to see your current match score. Then use Tailor Resume to boost that score.

Templates and Formatting

After your resume is optimized, you can choose from 20+ templates. All templates are:

  • ATS-friendly (parseable by tracking systems)
  • Professional and clean
  • Customizable

You can preview how your content looks in any template before downloading.

Tips for Best Results

Upload a complete resume. The more information ReviseCV has, the better it can match you to jobs. Include all your relevant experience, skills, and achievements.

Use detailed job descriptions. Copy the entire job posting, not just the title and a few bullet points. Requirements, preferred qualifications, and company descriptions all help the AI understand what the employer wants.

Review the output. AI is a tool, not a replacement for your judgment. Read through the tailored resume and make sure it represents you accurately.

Don’t forget the cover letter. A tailored resume plus a matching cover letter makes a stronger application than either one alone.
